Korea promotes 900 billion Won worth of R&D in the war for preemption of 6G that has already begun
The Ministry of Science and ICT and the
Institute of Information and Communications Technology Planning &
Evaluation (IITP) have held a public hearing on the 'Next-generation network
(6G) industrial technology development (R&D) plan (draft)'. On this day,
they discussed ways to secure frequencies and related technologies before
conducting a preliminary feasibility test for 6G.
The Ministry of Science and ICT has decided
to develop a total of 17 strategic technologies in six areas, including
wireless communication, wireless communication components, mobile core network,
wired network, system, and infrastructure, with the goal of realizing 6G.
Kim Jeong-sam, director of information
security network policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT, said that he would
create a cooperative ecosystem where large enterprises can open and share
related technologies with SMEs.
