In
November 2019, China established IMT-2030, a pan-governmental 6G technology
research organization, and in March 2020, the Chinese Electronic Information
Industry Development Institute published a white paper on 6G concepts and
visions in Chinese. In November 2020, China launched the world's first satellite
for 6G testing, drawing attention from all over the world. This has proven
undeniably that China is the most advanced country in 6G technology. In
addition, China holds the largest number of 6G-related patents in the world.
Samsung
Electronics and Nokia (Finland), along with major IT companies such as
Qualcomm, Intel, and Verizon, have participated as founding members in
"Next G. Alliance" launched in the US. This is because it is
difficult for the US alone to prevent China's dominance in 6G.
Finland
is expanding its cooperative system with major countries. For example, it is
conducting joint R&D initiatives with NTT Docomo of Japan. In particular,
Nokia participated in RINGS, a 6G research program led by the US National
Science Foundation (NSF) as a founding member.
